my turkey coma.

You know when you eat alot of turkey, or maybe just some... (i don't eat that much turkey- always fill up on potatoes and it's completly mandatory to save room for pie)

... anyways, you know when you eat the turkey and then you feel a little drowsy like the world is spinning peacefully, lulling you into sleepdom?

but your sister won't zip it.

She just keeps talking and talking... Even though your eyes keep closing. Maybe they open briefly when your called upon to answer but find themselves closing again at any given chance...

then all the sudden she stops. Or atleast you think she stops.

it's hard to be sure what just happened because for a moment you slipped away.

I heard it click Lori!

I know that click!

and there you have it. Turkey coma documented.

Don't worry, I'm not done with Oahu just yet

Fine. You win photobucket.

I didn't know the rules and now I am being forced to post Kauai all out of whack like. And when I say forced I mean I don't want to pay the $24.99/year fee to upload unlimited gigs of photos.

Yeah yeah technically it is all my fault. Back when my plan was to post all willy nilly, I went on an uploading rampage and well now all I can show you is part of our awesome time in Kauai! (this being till Dec. 1st)

oopsies.

{ Refer to the above issue when wondering where all the photos of Natty are. }

Ok so here we are in Kauai. We stayed at the Sheraton near poi pu beach. It was of course gorgeous in every way. This particular morning Lucy woke me up at about sunrise and instead of putting a pillow over my head (which is standard procedure at home) I looked out the window and it was so pretty I asked her if she's like to go down to the beach with me and take some photos.

She did. not surprised are you.

Well once we got down there we walked close to the water letting the waves get up to about our ankles. Until the big unexpected one came for us. That's when we scooted our soggy britches upward a bit and avoided the water altogether. In fact Lucy avoided it the whole rest of the trip.

Beautiful sunrise though huh?

Lucy spent all of her beach time in the sand a safe distance from the big scary waves.

There was something Lucy loved... the pool. It had an area that was just the right amount deep for her... if you look close in my dad glasses you can see it...

Seriously... you didn't really try that did you?

hehe.

I was mostly kidding. Not about them sitting by the pool though. That's really real.

I was trying my darndest to be sneaky when taking these. I always feel weird when people catch me photographing them. is it so wrong?

You come to the beach showin off all your surfer boy tricks in the vicinity of a girl sporting a camera hooked to some sweet glass... you're getting your photo taken.

Make no mistake about it.

Do you like how the sun made a pretty little superman symbol and Chad's booty?

One thing we did learn for sure it that there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING going on in Kauai on Halloween night.

Even so, the kids insisted on dressing up. In fact I spent a good whole day before we left scurrying around to get all the pieces to kassidy's costume. Not to mention sewing well into the night because no one makes a Zoey Mew Mew costume. NO ONE! Well except me I guess :)

my apologies for the bad photo of kassidy. It was in the hall at night... flash seemed to be my best option.

Even the front desk at the hotel couldn't scrounge up any candy for them. It was pretty sad. So we went outside and attempted to at the very least get some photos of them.

Well would you believe Lucy was the only one who sat still enough to get any kind of decent capture in such low light?

BELIEVE IT! You won't find me posting a single picture of my other kids on halloween night.

I think I have them all convinced the wear the same costumes next year.

*me crossing my fingers*

I loved this one with the glow from the tiki torch.

And then there's this one. I think I was moving not her.

Somehow the blur seems to add to this particular photo. To me anyhow. You may detest it if you like. No matter.

I leave you now with this one (of many) photos of the best sunset I've ever seen in my life! Right there on the north end of the Na pali Coast at Ke'e beach...

so beautiful, the photo doesn't even do it justice.

and now I go eat pie. (I like to practice up for the real thing :)

Looking looking looking

In this photo you will see...

I have a thing for Anthropologie.

Her name is Lukee { in Hawaiian }

and I love her.

Just because.
xoxo

{ sorry Kell.... I did steal your cool song, don't be surprised if I steal all of them eventually... I think we jive musically :) }

oops! my mistake.

We visited the Dole pineapple plantation when were were on Oahu. it took my dad a few hours to realize that the pineapples sticking out of the bushes were actual pineapples growing on an actual pineapple bushes...

and not fake pineapples on sticks that the plantation workers use to decorate so it "looks" like a pineapple plantation :)

hahaha. Kinda like at dinner last sunday when he admitted to just now figuring out what they mean by half, three quarter, and full bath!

It's ok dad I asked the guy at Mi Amigos what the heck a green onion was!

seriously people their called scallions!

Anyhoo, when we were there we went in their little maze... which I think it's a cruel joke they play on unsuspecting tourists. Or maybe it's fun I guess. I dunno...

but

I thought this was the biggest snail I'd ever seen.

But that was only until we went to dinner a few nights later after it had rained ALOT

That, my friends, is when I actually saw the largest snail in the world!

Imagine a grapefruit. Now use your mind powers to turn that into a snail shell and then picture like this big overcooked New York Strip loin, no it was bigger think porterhouse.... writhing around in it sliminess. *shutter*

My kids wanted to take it home to be our beloved pet :)

Yah, no kidding! That thing's the size of a small dog.

(Yes i am feeling the shame of missing that photo op. Try not to rub it in too mucho)
thanks,
mgmnt.

*just for fun*....now that you've read the whole post go back and look at how the snail looks like a snail shaped rootbeer popsicle.

SLURP :)

Oahu

here we go... I will try to keep these in somewhat chronological order. Mostly for my sake.

It only took the mere stepping off of the plane for my hair to frizzle up into a bouncy ball of fluff. I wasn't alone though so that was comforting. My mom and Natalie were battling the fluff head with me the whole trip.

We stayed at the Ko'olina. It was beautiful. This is the view from our room...

actually thats only part of it. Darnit for not having a wide angle lens! I think you get the picture though.

If you wondered... yes thems are my people down there on the beach!

This was the beach at the hotel. They had it bayed off so the waves were so very mild which was wonderful for Lucy. She thought she loved the beach for atleast 2 days!

Imagine her dismay when we got to Kauai and the waves bowled her over and tried desperately to drag her back into the ocean with the rest of the debris it carries in its waves.

this photo very closely follows the no rules photography rule.

but atleast she loved it for 2 days worth. So anyway this is what we did...

My mom made the mistake of going up to her room to relax for a bit... when she came down i had my kids teetering on the edge of the reef getting hit by the waves... she was not impressed.

look at their faces, they love it :)

And then this wave came... and we called it quits.

It was big. bigger than big. Mom just about ramsquattled me.

<3 my family...

more to come...

Maybe it was his cat like reflexes.

When ever I'm working on photos, I scan through the finished images to prove to myself that I'm making progress.

and when I come to this one i pause...

and ask myself... did it turn out okay for that young fella?

I really don't see how, but just the same, knowing I was there I think... surely even I would have remembered the wail of ambulance sirens if all was not well... right?

I don't know if you can see, but that what he's about to land on is about one inch of water. Not much to break a fall.

they're real and they're fabulous! right. were talking about eyelashes here.

*Hawaii Interrupted*

This morning we got to get up extra early and have some family fun time!

Thanks to this gal...

Pretty isn't she. No you can't have her. She's mine all mine!

and she's my dancing gal.

Today was the Gilbert Day's parade I was telling you about in my last post. Remember? We had to drop Natty off bright and early.

who invited the clouds and the brisk chill in the air? The first chilly day in eons and were front and center taking it all in. In other words no one brought a jacket and we froze, but not to death.

oh wait... I guess Nats had a sweatshirt but I have a feeling those legs were popsicles :)

therse girls were by far the best looking dance team there!

If perchance you're wondering if it's very difficult to get a pony all slicked up that high on ones head, I'm gonna have to go with most definitely!

It's what I like to call the 20 min pony... as opposed to the one I do in my hair which takes T-minus 2 seconds :)

We were so happy Savannah came to hang with us at the parade. And of course Lori too...

Your probably asking yourself what this is even a picture of.

hair people... it's the hair. I'm smitten by her hair.

I'm having high hopes i won't get in trouble for posting a picture of my mom. You know how moms can be a little camera shy at times. Sorry mom I just adored it so :)

the tall bike club... or whatever. No clue who these people are but they can ride bikes stacked on bikes and thats cool. this one was my personal favorite! i think it may have had something to do with pink and a basket.

And here comes our dancers!!

On the float we have the snap caps and the sparklers. Their costume is adorable but due to the use of fishnet pantyhose I think i boycott. It's just kids + pantyhose = spending lots of money buying more.

There she is!! We totally hooped and hollared it up!

Some of her little firecracker friends. Adorable aren't they?

They look pooped. And so am I. I think I will put myself down for a nap.

Oh you'll probably be seeing lots more of these girls on here!

next time just come to the parade like I said to!
